Cannabis for Bacterial Infections

There is a lot of conflicting information regarding medical cannabis and infectious diseases. Some research shows an increased likelihood of certain types of infection, and a decreased likelihood of other types. It seems to matter what type of inflammation pathway the disease triggers, as cannabis successfully treats some and not others.

Researchers have found synthetic cannabidiol (CBD) can kill bacteria responsible for gonorrhoea, meningitis and Legionnaires’ disease. CBD can kill a wide range of bacteria, including Neisseria gonorrhoeae, which causes gonorrhoea.
