Fast, Easy, and Affordable

For Mississippi, you must make an appointment with our provider — walk-ins are not accepted.

Most appointments with Leafwell physicians take less than 15 minutes. The consultation fee in Mississippi is $199, less than that of many other medical marijuana card providers — and you’re only charged if approved.

Once approved, your physician will register your certification with the state. You can then create an account with the Mississippi Department of Health, complete your application, and pay the $25 application fee.

You’ll receive a digital card once the state accepts your medical card application – you can use this to buy your medicine from licensed dispensaries.

Medical Marijuana Doctors Trusted By Over 300,000 Patients

Leafwell serves patients all over the United States seeking relief from the symptoms of many medical conditions. In Mississippi, medical conditions that qualify for a medical card to buy medical cannabis include:

Mississippi also allows medical cannabis use for other chronic or persistent medical conditions that either substantially limit a person’s ability to conduct one or more of major life activities as defined in the federal Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 or, if not alleviated, may cause serious harm to the person’s safety, physical, or mental health.

Increased Access to Cannabis

The recreational use of marijuana is illegal in Mississippi.

The only way to legally possess cannabis-related products in the Magnolia state is to have a medical card. Medical cardholders may access up to 2.5 ounces of medical cannabis every 14 days.

Advance Cannabis Research

Cannabis is still considered a Schedule 1 drug at the federal level in the United States. This means that in-depth research into the medicinal power of cannabis pales in comparison to other medications and treatments.

But by getting a medical card at Leafwell, you’re contributing to understanding cannabis as medicine and advancing research so others can benefit from its medicinal properties.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the online evaluation process work for getting a medical cannabis card certification in Mississippi?

Please note: We are currently only seeing existing Leafwell patients for 6-month follow-ups. We are temporarily unable to see new patients in person or renewals. We apologize for any inconvenience. Initial certifications must be done in person, but follow-ups and renewals with the same provider can be completed online. Leafwell has a network of in-person appointment locations to serve patients across Mississippi. Here's what the process will look like with our provider near you:
  1. Register with Leafwell by creating a Leafwell account using a valid email address. You'll be asked to complete a brief questionnaire of personal and health information and to either take or upload a photograph of identification (we're required by law to verify your identity).
  2. Schedule an appointment and attend your in-person consultation. Once you arrive, log into your Leafwell account and check in to the virtual waiting room to notify the provider of your arrival. During the visit, your provider will assess your medical condition(s) to determine if you qualify for a medical marijuana certification.
  3. Once approved, your provider will submit your certification to the state, and then you can complete and submit your state application to the Mississippi Medical Cannabis Program online. You'll receive your digital medical card within 35 business days.

Can I grow cannabis In Mississippi with a medical cannabis card?

Home cultivation of cannabis is not permitted under Mississippi law.

Can I get a medical cannabis card for my child in Mississippi?

Minors under 18 can qualify for a Mississippi medical marijuana card with consent from a custodial parent or legal guardian, serving as their caregiver. The Mississippi Medical Cannabis Program (MMCP) requires the following for minor patients:
  • Minors must be approved by two physicians (MD/DO), in person, from separate practices.
  • Caregivers for minor patients must be the child’s primary custodial parent or legal guardian.
  • Documentation of custody must be uploaded with the caregiver application in the form of a birth certificate or legal documents designating custody.
Although not technically minors, the MMCP requires individuals between 18 and 25 to receive two certifications from practitioners, with one being a physician (MD/DO), at separate practices following an in-person consultation. However, the in-person requirement is waived for homebound individuals and those with an MMCP identification card before turning 18. More information can be found here. Please note: Leafwell cannot certify minor patients in Mississippi at this time. We apologize for any inconvenience.
