Sensi Star

Sensi Star is an indica-dominant strain of cannabis developed by Paradise Seeds. First released in 1995, Paradise Seeds released an updated version in 1997, claiming enhanced stability. The exact genetics of the strain (cultivar) has been kept under wraps; however, some estimates have put it at 65% indica and 35% sativa, while other estimates place it as high as 90% indica.

Sensi Star has high THC levels, often around 18%-22%, and has been described as “the strongest indica you will ever encounter.” These days, the THC percentages of Sensi Star have been surpassed, but it is still considered a strong strain useful for managing chronic pain, insomnia, and nausea.

The scent has been described as akin to fresh pine mixed with lemon, and the flavors have been described as earthy, herbal, and pear-like. High levels of oil production make it prized by hash producers.

Since its introduction in 1995 and improvement in 1997 by Paradise Seeds, Sensi Star has won over 15 Cannabis Cup awards. It has also won awards in several other competitions, including La Bella Flor, Champions Cup, Copa Mendoza, and Soft Secrets Plant of the Year.

The popularity of Sensi Star has inspired many cannabis breeders to use it as a parent strain for developing other hybrids. At least 55 strains (cultivars) of cannabis claim Sensi Star as part of their heritage. Some of these strains have become famous in their own right, including Bio-Diesel, Stevie Wonder, Death Star, Lemon Stinky, and Sensitron.

Growing

Sensi Star can be grown indoors and outdoors, yielding up to 16 ounces of cannabis per plant when grown indoors. It tends to grow short and stout, with bushy branches and dense indica buds, meaning some pruning may be needed. Excess moisture should be avoided as this strain is susceptible to mold and bud rot.

Using the “sea of green” method when cultivating this strain is recommended, with 20 plants per square meter.

Height

Sensi Star can grow up to 6 feet tall outside, so it may require topping if grown indoors or in a confined space. Topping simply involves pruning the top part of the plant’s main stem to stop it from growing taller and instead cause it to produce more outward branches.

Humidity and Temperature

Sensi Star prefers a dry climate, with temperatures between 70 and 85 degrees Fahrenheit (or 21-29 degrees Celsius).
