Sweet Tooth

Sweet Tooth is an indica-dominant hybrid made by crossing Hawaiian and Nepali strains. It’s a mildly potent strain with a THC level of around 17%. Because it’s 60% indica, it has strong indica effects. Sweet Tooth has been described as having euphoric, long-lasting effects and, depending on the phenotype, can be myrcene, pinene, or terpinolene dominant. This makes Sweet Tooth ideal for managing stress, anxiety, and depression.

Sweet Tooth is resilient from being a cross between three landrace strains – Hawaiian, Nepalese, and Afghani. Its origins are from Barney’s Farm in Amsterdam. Landrace strains are genetically pure, producing resins and terpenes in response to the demands of the environment they’re grown in.

Rest assured, this strain lives up to its name, offering both sugary scents and sweet tastes. As an indica-dominant strain, it produces highly relaxing effects, boosts your happiness, and helps you to sit back and tap into your creativity.

Sweet Tooth boasts mango, berry, and grapefruit scents alongside an undertone of woody and earthy aromas. A pleasant floral scent lingers long after removing the strain from the room, so it doubles as something to smoke and a natural air freshener.

The strain won the 2001 Cannabis High Times award and placed in 2002 and 2003, enhancing its popularity in the early 2000s.

Growing

High resilience makes this strain easy to grow, making it a great option if you’re a novice grower. Sweet Tooth plants fight disease and damage caused by viruses, bacteria, and pests. They’re a photoperiod strain, which means they need a change in the light cycle to cause them to flower. If you’re growing indoors, periods of 12 hours of light and 12 hours of darkness are sufficient.

Sweet Tooth plants benefit from pruning and shaping. When grown indoors, you can expect a yield of 2-3 ounces per square foot (550 grams per square meter). Grown outdoors, you can expect a yield of around 5 ounces (150 grams). Sweet Tooth typically has a thick covering of trichomes found on the dense buds, stalks, and flowers that look like a sugar coating.

Height

Indoors, Sweet Tooth plants grow to a height of 80-90 cm, and when grown outdoors, you can expect them to exceed 1 meter.

Humidity and Temperature

A sunny, dry, Mediterranean environment is optimal for this strain. Aim for humidity levels around 65% during the growing stage, and then gradually lower this as you reach the flowering stage to around 30%. This is important as maintaining an appropriate humidity level can boost the plant’s yield, appearance, and flavor and reduce the chance of mold and bud rot. Lowering humidity helps as the roots take on moisture while the plant matures, evaporating through the leaves, thereby increasing the humidity levels.

Flowering

Flowering time is typically after eight to nine weeks, so you can expect a harvest time around September or October.
