Berry White

Berry White is an indica-dominant hybrid strain that also goes by White Berry and Blue Venom. It’s 75% indica and 25% sativa and tastes like sweet blueberries and pine trees (a classic combination), with THC levels ranging from 16%-22%.

The punny name was inspired by American singer-songwriter Barry White, whose smooth, deep voice led him to become one of the best-selling music artists of all time. Like the legendary singer’s voice, Berry White is noted for its soothing, relaxing effects, and this makes Berry White ideal for managing insomnia, chronic pain, and inflammation.

Berry White is a cross between indica-dominant parents Blueberry and the hybrid White Widow. White Widow, developed by Green House Seeds, originates from the Netherlands and is one of the most popular strains in the world. White Widow was also the winner of the Cannabis Cup in 1995. The Blueberry strain is another highly sought-after strain and was created in the 1970s.

Berry White came about by accident; breeders at Green Beadz Seedz in Colorado were breeding this strain as an intermediary for mass-producing a different strain. They were surprised by the results of Berry White, which grew in popularity.

The distinctive blueberry flavor is because of terpenes also found in fruit-producing blueberry plants and Blueberry strains.

Growing

Berry White is available in both regular seed and feminized seed, as well as in clone form. Feminized Berry White seeds are a great choice as they result in exclusively bud-bearing plants, are much more cost-effective, and require less growing space.

Growing Berry White is relatively straightforward as it’s highly resistant to mold and mildew, so humidity is less of a concern for growing indoors. The plant has a good structure, requiring less pruning, and is, therefore, a great option if you’re looking for something low maintenance. It can be grown both hydroponically and in soil.

If you’re growing indoors, opt for growing in soil and coco coir to maximize the blueberry aroma. You can look forward to a yield of around 1.64 ounces per square foot (16 ounces per square meter) when grown indoors and 18 ounces (500 grams) per plant outdoors. It’s a medium-sized plant with large blue buds that can turn purple. If you’re growing outdoors, pick a sunny spot.

Humidity and Temperature

Berry White best grows at around 70-80 degrees Fahrenheit. Berry White can handle humidity well; however, you want to aim for a relative humidity of approximately 55%, then lower to around 40% gradually as you get within one to two weeks of flowering.

Flowering

Berry White has a flowering time of around seven to eight weeks, and you can expect a high yield. If you’re growing outdoors, this means you can expect to harvest in early October.
