Super Lemon Haze

Super Lemon Haze is a popular strain created by Arjan of Green House Seeds. He began with his previous famous Super Silver Haze, which won three consecutive Cannabis Cups in 1997, 1998, and 1999. He carefully bred it in a three-way cross of Lemon Haze, Lemon Skunk #1, and Northern Lights #5. The result was a sativa-dominant hybrid with sweet lemon and tart flavors.

The buds of the strain have a speckled green-brown appearance and are covered with a dense layer of resinous trichomes. These trichomes produce a potent mix of cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids that give Super Lemon Haze its unique flavor.

In 2008 and 2009, Super Lemon Haze won the High Times Cannabis Cup first-place award. In 2014 it won the Seattle Cannabis Cup for the Medical sativa category.

Super Lemon Haze has potent THC content delivering effects for around three hours.

Dosing

Growing

Super Lemon Haze is a relatively easy-to-cultivate strain. It can be grown indoors and outdoors; however, sativas are known for their considerable height, so a high-growth container is preferred when grown indoors. Additionally, a controlled indoor environment is recommended to take advantage of the complete terpene profile.

Mold is common in areas with high humidity and low water evaporation. Super Lemon Haze contains resinous trichomes on its buds, which make it resistant to mold by the Botrytis fungus.

A hydroponic setup is recommended for vigorous growth. This involves using a nutrient-enriched liquid for the plant’s roots and allows the roots to have maximum surface area for nutrient uptake. Trimming of foliage is also recommended to promote airflow and allow oxygen to reach the roots.

The sativa strains are noted for producing a burst of energy, while indica strains provide a relaxing body high. The combination of effects may be helpful for those who experience stress, depression, or chronic pain. Users report feeling happy, motivated, and creative but relaxed without feeling tired.

Is Super Lemon Haze an indica or a sativa?

The “indica” and “sativa” terms are often not helpful when determining the chemical composition of cannabis. However, they are useful when it comes to understanding growth patterns. Super Lemon Haze is a sativa-dominant strain of 80% sativa and 20% indica. Sativas generally grow taller and thinner, while indicas grow short with bushy greenery.

How does Super Lemon Haze make you feel?

The effects of the Super Lemon Haze cannabis strain are typically uplifting. It can be taken any time of the day as it is reported to eliminate fatigue, stress, and anxiety. The mood-elevating properties of Super Lemon Haze may also encourage sociability and regulate chronic depression and PTSD. However, since the THC count of this strain can reach 25%, it’s best taken in smaller quantities to avoid paranoia.
