Space Queen

Space Queen is a balanced hybrid strain created by famed breeder Vic High of the British Columbia Growers Association. It crosses Cinderella 99 and Romulan strains (cultivars), with THC levels of 16%-18%. It is 50% sativa and 50% indica, giving it myriad effects.

Space Queen is known for its intense cerebral effects, which give users a boost of energy that eventually mellows into a stressless state. In general, Space Queen is ideal for daytime use and may be useful for managing stress, anxiety, depression, chronic pain, and fatigue.

Space Queen has a deliciously sweet and fruity aroma with berries, vanilla, and cinnamon notes. The taste is equally delicious, with a sweet and citrusy kick.

Medical Applications

Space Queen may help improve energy levels and focus, aiding those with ADD/ADHD. It may help users come out of their shells and socialize, greatly benefiting those with anxiety and/or depression.

Depression

CBD and low doses of THC both have anti-depressant effects due to their ability to modulate serotonin transmission.

Organ Systems

  • Brain & Nervous System
Chronic Pain, Muscle Pain and Other Types of Pain

Cannabis contains many anti-inflammatory and analgesic compounds that can help alleviate pain. THC can help reduce and distract from the pain, whereas CBD can reduce inflammation and reduce the level of pain signals being sent.

Anxiety, Panic Disorders

Like with depression, CBD and low doses of THC can help alleviate anxiety due to the cannabinoids’ ability to modulate serotonin transmission.

Organ Systems

  • Brain & Nervous System
Headache & Migraine

THC may reduce serotonin release. Nausea and vomiting are sometimes side effects of migraines, and THC may help prevent these side effects.

Organ Systems

  • Brain & Nervous System
Muscle Spasms

Both THC and CBD may be used together to reduce the frequency and intensity of spasms, as ECS dysregulation and chronic inflammation are associated with misfiring nerve signals to muscles in conditions like multiple sclerosis.

Growing

Space Queen produces long, light green buds with bright orange pistils and a dense layer of trichomes.

This plant can be difficult to grow as its height can make it challenging to manage. Intense stretching is common during week three of flowering, and branches need to be supported by a trellis.

Space Queen benefits from “screen of green” (SCROG) training, and it may be necessary to train plants this way if the indoor setup is small. The SCROG method involves topping the plants in the early vegetative stage (removing the apical or center stem).

This encourages the plant to produce more side shoots, eventually becoming colas (flowers). Once topped, the branches of the plants are gently weaved through support (usually a horizontal trellis) to maximize the amount of light reaching each potential bud site.

This plant may need topping multiple times in the vegetative period to keep on top of its height. Tall plants can become weak if they are not tended to carefully. Additives such as silica will help to strengthen plant stems and provide support for large colas.

Space Queen is known to yield 400 grams per square meter indoors and 550 grams per square meter outdoors.

Height

Space Queen will reach 60-80 inches indoors and outdoors.

Humidity and Temperature

Space Queen prefers a warm, arid climate. When growing indoors, keep the relative humidity between 40%-60% in the vegetative phase and drop it to 30%-40% during flowering to prevent molds such as bud rot from taking hold. Space Queen can tolerate warmer temperatures than other strains, and this plant can be grown between 85 and 90 F (26 and 32 C). The humidity may fluctuate with changes in temperature as the air cools and water condenses from it, so continual humidity monitoring is important.

This plant does well in arid environments, but it needs to be given adequate water. When humidity is low, and temperature is high, plants will increase their transpiration rates and suck up more moisture from the soil.

Flowering

The flowering period for this strain is between 50-60 days, making it shorter than many strains.
