Alien Technology

Alien Technology, also known as Alien Tech, is one of several seed varieties an American soldier brought to the United States from Afghanistan. It was then named and bred by breeder OBSoull33t. Alien Technology is a pure indica marijuana strain with tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) levels of around 14%-19% and very low cannabidiol (CBD) content.

As with many marijuana strains, Alien Technology hasn’t explicitly been scientifically tested for efficacy due to many strains and relatively recent legalization. However, initial reports suggest that Alien Technology has the potential to relieve the symptoms of depression and anxiety temporarily.

The cured flower buds of Alien Technology aren’t commonly available for purchase, though Alien Technology seeds can be ordered from several sites online. Alien Technology has primarily been used as breeding stock to create the Alien family, known for strong, rapid effects. Alien Technology is renowned for having sustained effects beyond most strains, with noticeable effects still present up to six hours after inhalation.

Alien Technology can create euphoric effects and improve mood, energy, and creativity. After the initial effects have faded, the strain provides muscle relaxation and relief from chronic pain. Unlike most indica strains, Alien Technology doesn’t usually cause significant sedative effects, though it can be helpful in calming thoughts and relaxing the body before sleep.

Cured Alien Technology buds have a spicy, earthy aroma with a hint of fresh pencil shavings, cedar wood, and diesel. When inhaled, a rich herbal taste, a chemical bitterness, and a vanilla taste linger.

Growing

Alien Technology is considered a reasonably easy-to-grow strain, tolerant to nutrient levels and temperature variations. Most growers will be able to grow the plant to harvest successfully.

However, bud production can vary greatly depending on growth conditions. If a high yield is desired, growers will need more experience in training techniques and fine-tuning temperature and light exposure.

Although the original Alien Technology is a photoperiod strain, feminized seeds are available and suited for indoor growing conditions. The resulting harvest may have slightly different characteristics than the photoperiod strain described in this article.

Alien Technology produces beautiful plants that are naturally Christmas tree-shaped with white frosted buds. The strain likely originated from cold regions of Afghanistan and is very tolerant of temperature variation. However, for best results, it shouldn’t be exposed to temperatures below 50 degrees Fahrenheit (10 degrees C) at night or above 80 degrees Fahrenheit (27 degrees C) during the day.

Height

Alien Technology grows between 30 and 60 inches (75 and 150 cm) tall indoors and outdoors. Plants respond well to training methods such as the “sea of green” method, where the stalks of young plants are bent horizontally to increase the number of vertical stems.

Humidity and Temperature

Alien Technology prefers a steady humidity of between 40% and 50% but benefits from some defoliation to prevent leaves from becoming too crowded.

Flowering

Light hours should be adjusted for flowering at around 68-75 days when grown indoors, and buds should be ready for harvest at approximately 82 days. Indoors, a yield of 0.5-1.0 ounces per foot (150–300 grams per square meter) can be expected. If grown outdoors, plants take around eight weeks before flowering and should flower in late September to early October.
