98 Aloha White Widow

A robust and tropical variant of the classic White Widow strain, this spicy hybrid known as the ’98 aloha white widow strain is 70% sativa and 30% indica. It’s often called a “one-hitter high,” with a moderate THC level of around 20% and 1% CBD. It’s commonly used recreationally but can also help relieve chronic fatigue, insomnia, and headaches.

The 98 Aloha White Widow strain comes from Hawaii, and it originates from the White Gold phenotype. It was first developed in 1998: the legend is that a traveling cannabis enthusiast from Canada produced some seeds to barter with locals, leading to the creation of the hybrid.

The strain is recognizable by its distinctive green trichome-coated dark foliage. Along with other strains such as Kona Gold and Maui Wowie, 98 Aloha White Widow has legendary status in Hawaii and is notable for its unique, earthy flavor and room-filling odor. The strain is available through the Pua Mana 1st Hawaiian Pakalolo Seed Bank.

Growing

As with all medical marijuana seeds, the first step is germinating the seeds. Cover them with a damp paper towel, and don’t pot them until the seeds have started to sprout (this will usually take a day). Indoor growing is recommended to protect the 98 Aloha White Widow strain from pests and disease, but this strain can also be grown outdoors in a good climate.

Flowering

One of the reasons for the 98 Aloha White Widow strain’s popularity in Hawaii is its shorter flowering time compared to other Hawaiian strains Kona Gold and Maui Wowie. It vegetates for about eight weeks (between 18-24 hours of light). The flowers do not have a strong aroma, so you don’t need to worry about them drawing attention.
