Cannabis for Pruritis

calendar-icon

Last updated on Oct 7, 2024

Pruritus stands for “itchy skin”, and is often caused by dried skin. It most often occurs in people as they age, but can occur as a result of pregnancy, another skin disorder (e.g. acne, eczema), allergies, asthma, or, more rarely, cancer. Preliminary human studies have shown that both THC and CBD may be useful in relieving chronic itching. Cannabinoid receptors on the skin are involved in the neuronal modulation of peripheral itch fibers.
