Last updated on Oct 7, 2024

Amyloidosis is a rare condition where a buildup of amyloid proteins (deposits) can make it difficult for organs and tissues to function. This can lead to organ failure. Familial Mediterranean fever (FMF) is an autoimmune genetic condition that can cause recurrent fevers, inflammation of the linings of the lungs, swelling of the joints and ankle rashes. FMF can lead to amyloidosis and organ failure.

As with Alzheimer’s disease, THC can promote the removal of toxic clumps of amyloid beta protein deposits in amyloidosis. Cannabinoids also have plenty of promise in treating various kinds of autoimmune diseases as well.
