Platinum Kush

Platinum Kush is a popular hybrid cannabis strain. It’s indica-dominant, containing 90% cannabis indica and 10% cannabis sativa genetics. Although the exact genetic background of Platinum Kush isn’t known, it’s believed to be made by crossing OG Kush and an unknown Afghani strain.

Platinum Kush has a sweet, earthy, hashy, and almost skunky aroma. When the flowers are broken up, however, it often smells tangy. The flavor of Platinum Kush is fruity, sweet, and woody.
Purple hues and bright orange hairs characterize its appearance. However, Platinum Kush gets its name from its different platinum-silver color. A shiny silver coat of crystal resin covers the flowers and leaves.

The Platinum Kush strain, also known as Platinum OG Kush or Platinum OG, was developed by Apothecary Genetics in the early 1990s. Since then, Platinum Kush has become increasingly popular, as demonstrated by its Best Hydro Strain win in the 1994 High Times Cup.

Platinum Kush is commonly grown on the United States West Coast and in Colorado.

Growing

Platinum Kush is an indica variety of cannabis that is relatively easy to grow and can be successfully grown indoors and outdoors. Autoflower versions of this popular strain/cultivar also exist, making Platinum Kush Auto an ideal choice for those seeking more discreet growth.

It’s also resistant to environmental threats, including fungi, mold, bacteria, and insects.

When Platinum Kush is grown indoors, you can expect a yield of approximately 18 ounces (or around 500 grams) per square meter. However, a yield of about 14 ounces (or 400 grams) per square meter is expected when grown outdoors, and this is slightly less than other cannabis strains.

Platinum Kush is thought to grow exceptionally well using the “Sea of Green” method. This is where you grow many small plants simultaneously in a contained area instead of a few larger plants in an uncrowded area.

Trimming your Platinum Kush cannabis plant as it grows regularly is essential. This is because, being an indica, it can grow quite bushy and wide.

Height

Platinum Kush plants usually grow to medium height, typically between 30 to 50 inches (76 to 127 cm). As an indica-dominant strain, it doesn’t grow as high as sativas tend to.

Humidity and Temperature

Platinum Kush is reported to grow best in an environment that is dry and warm. However, since Platinum Kush is resistant to mold, it can also grow in humid climates.

The optimal temperature for growing Platinum Kush is between 65 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit (18 to 26 degrees Celsius).

Flowering

Platinum Kush flowering time is generally eight to nine weeks. If grown outside, it should be ready to harvest by September or October (in the Northern Hemisphere).

An excellent way to tell that a Platinum Kush plant is ready to harvest is that the buds develop their characteristic platinum-silver sparkle.
