Jager

Jager (Jagermeister, Jager Kush, JGR) is an indica-dominant strain created by an unidentified breeder from southern Oregon. Its lineage is also slightly mysterious, but it’s thought that its genetics come from a cross between LA Confidential and Blue Dream. Jager is an 80% indica, 20% sativa strain (cultivar) with a THC content between 19% and 22%.

Jager is a classic “couch lock” strain with strong sedative and relaxing effects. It may help relieve chronic pain, muscle spasms, and tremors. This strain is recommended for nighttime use, assisting people in easing into blissful sleep.

Jager is noted for its sweet berry flavor and black licorice aroma, similar to the German liquor Jagermeister.

Terpenes

Terpenes, found in trace amounts in cannabis, are responsible for producing a wide variety of smells and flavors unique to each strain. Terpenes vary from strain to strain and can also vary depending on various factors.

You can maximize the levels of terpenes in your yield by growing in nutrient-dense soil, having high levels of light exposure, and curing your buds slowly and carefully.

Growing

Jager produces long, tapered buds with fiery orange hairs (pistils) and dark green leaves with deep rich purple undertones.

This strain is suitable for beginner growers as it is compact and resistant to mold, which can quickly destroy a cannabis crop if unmanaged. This strain is short and squat, requiring a certain degree of trimming to improve light penetration and air circulation; however, it may not need excessive training to be manageable.

It is a smaller variety with modest yields of up to 200 grams per square meter indoors. Topping Jager (removing the middle stem) is recommended to encourage the plant to increase branching and eventual bud production.

Height

Both indoor and outdoor, Jager is less than 30 inches tall.

Humidity and Temperature

Jager prefers a humid outdoor environment. When growing indoors, keep the relative humidity between 40%-60% in the vegetative phase and drop it to 30%-40% during flowering to prevent molds. Temperatures should stay between 70-80 F (21-26 C). Humidity may fluctuate; continual humidity monitoring is essential.

Flowering

Jager takes approximately 45-50 days to flower (six to seven weeks). This makes it an ideal strain for beginners.
