Dragon’s Breath

Dragon Breath is a sativa-dominant hybrid cross strain made by crossing the Northern Lights indica strain with the Jack Herer sativa strain. It’s also believed that an unknown skunk strain is added into the mix. This is likely responsible for the intense, skunky scents. Its flavor profile is earthy, sweet, citrusy, and slightly spicy.

Dragon Breath was created by Ocean Grown Seeds and has become increasingly popular. However, the actual genetic makeup of Dragon Breath isn’t known. Most breeders think it’s sativa-leaning, while some consider it a balanced hybrid with 50% Cannabis sativa and 50% Cannabis indica genetics.

In 2018, High Times named Dragon Breath their “10 Best Weed Strains To Ring In The New Year.” The strain is primarily known in the cannabis community for its clear-headed effects.

The appearance of Dragon Breath is attractive, with large and lumpy buds. They take on a color ranging from forest green to purple and blue. The buds also have a frosty coating of sticky trichomes.

Growing

Dragon Breath plants are relatively easy to grow, even for first-time cannabis planters. They require less maintenance than other strains because the plants are resistant to molds, pests, and mildew.

The yield is roughly similar to the average yield for cannabis strains. When grown indoors, you’ll obtain approximately 16 ounces (453 grams) of Dragon Breath bud per square meter of the plant. If you grow Dragon Breath outdoors, you can expect a slightly higher yield of around 18 ounces (510 grams) of bud per square meter of the plant.

Cultivators suggest that growing methods suitable for the Dragon Breath strain include:

  • Sea of Green: Many small plants are grown in a limited space instead of a few larger plants.
  • Screen of Green: The plant’s branches are made to grow horizontally to expose more buds to the sunlight.

Humidity and Temperature

Like many cannabis strains, Dragon Breath grows best in a warm, dry, and sunny environment– often described as a “Mediterranean” climate.
The temperature of the environment has a significant impact on the color of the flowers. Dragon Breath flowers are dark blue and purple in cooler temperatures, and in warmer temperatures, they’re light green.
