A certified healthcare provider can also recommend a medical marijuana card for Massachusetts patients with other debilitating conditions.

Increased Access to Cannabis

Retail marijuana stores are banned in several Massachusetts counties, including Essex.

However, those with a valid medical marijuana card can access medical dispensaries, meaning greater access to various cannabis products. Medical cannabis dispensaries are also required to reserve products specifically for MMJ patients.

As a bonus, medical patients can also pay for cannabis products with a debit or credit card. Recreational users are only allowed to purchase with cash.

Help Advance Cannabis Research

Cannabis is still considered a Schedule 1 drug at the federal level in the United States. This means that in-depth research into the medicinal power of cannabis pales in comparison to other medications and treatments.

By getting a medical card at Leafwell, you’re contributing to understanding cannabis as medicine and advancing research so others can benefit from its medicinal properties.

Other Benefits of Medical Marijuana Cards

  • Medical Marijuana Reciprocity. An MA MMJ card is recognized as valid by states with medical marijuana reciprocity.
  • Minors Can Get a Card. Minors younger than 18 can be issued a medical card with a qualified caregiver.
  • Patients Can Grow Their Own Cannabis. Medical cardholders can grow up to six plants in an enclosed facility.

And more!

Can I get an MMJ Card for my child in Massachusetts?

Minors under 18 can qualify for a Massachusetts medical marijuana card with consent from a custodial parent or legal guardian who will serve as their caregiver. Pediatric patients must receive two certifications from two certifying healthcare providers, one of whom must be a board-certified pediatrician or pediatric specialist. When minor patients turn 18, their pediatric certifications will remain active until expiration. Once it's time to renew, they will need to apply as a New Adult Patient. Unfortunately, Leafwell cannot currently certify minors. We apologize for any inconvenience. Additional Resources:
