Starburst

Starburst — aka Pink Starburst or Starburst OG — is a sativa dominant hybrid strain of 60% sativa and 40% indica. It has moderate to high THC levels ranging from 20% to 30%. This well-balanced strain has potent energetic, and calming effects, as well as a sweet taste.

Pink Starburst is the love child of a slightly complex three-way cross between DJ Shorts Blueberry and Headband, and then with Sour Diesel BX3 — also known as AJ Sour Diesel. Anesia Seeds created it quite recently to cultivate a strain with a high THC content, a sweet, fruity flavor profile, and powerful effects.  Its effects suggest that Pink Starburst may help manage stress, anxiety, and depression.

With THC levels reaching up to 30%, there is no doubt that Pink Starburst packs a powerful punch. This strain may be too intense for beginners. Having a genotype of 60% sativa and 40% indica, Pink Starburst strikes a nice balance between stimulating and relaxing effects.

Growing

growing strains

Pink Starburst has two phenotypes which have different growth and flowering periods, as well as different yields. The phenotype with the bigger yield takes five to 10 days longer to flower but will provide yields of up to 21 ounces per 10 square feet when grown indoors, and this phenotype can yield up to 25 ounces per plant in an outdoor environment.
The Pink Starburst plant can be grown both indoors and outdoors. Indoor growing gives more experienced growers opportunities to use a hydroponic setup or the “Sea of Green” growing method to increase their yields.
Because some extra equipment and techniques are involved when growing Pink Starburst, it may not be the best strain to try if this is your first attempt at growing your own cannabis.

Height

Depending on the phenotype and whether you grow your Pink Starburst indoors or outdoors, you can expect it to reach between 4 and 7 feet tall.

Humidity and Temperature

To grow your Pink Starburst indoors, you must control the temperature and humidity levels. During the vegetative stage, humidity should be high, around 75%. Throughout the growing process, the humidity should slowly drop and be no higher than 50% by the start of the flowering period and down to 30%-35% by the last weeks of flowering.
The temperature should be kept around 70 to 75 degrees Fahrenheit throughout. If you choose to grow your Pink Starburst outdoors, it will thrive in a hot, sunny, “Mediterranean” climate.

Flowering

Flowering time is also dependent on which phenotype you are growing. The shorter phenotype, with the smaller yield, will flower in approximately 55 days, and the larger, high-yielding phenotype will flower around day 65. Outdoor plants will be ready to harvest by early October.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Pink Starburst strain good for?

Pink Starburst is a well-balanced cannabis variety, which is suitable for providing a balanced high — making it very versatile. It can make you feel more energized and talkative, resulting in higher motivation and productivity.

This strain can also provide a sense of clarity while at the same time calming you down, which makes it ideal for managing stress. Pink Starburst can also relax, which may help with an overactive mind or anxious thoughts.

This versatility and balance of effects make Pink Starburst a good strain for morning or daytime use. It also has a delicious flavor thanks to its sweet and fruity flavor profile, making it a good option for people who don’t like earthy, herbal, and skunky scents.

Is Pink Starburst strain an indica or a sativa?

Pink Starburst’s genotype is 60% sativa and 40% indica, making it a sativa-dominant hybrid strain. Because there are almost equal parts sativa and indica, this strain is described as "well-balanced" because it gives a blend of effects from both ends of the cannabis spectrum.

How does the Starburst strain make you feel?

Starburst can make you feel a wide range of physical effects. On the one hand, it can make you happy, energetic, and stimulated. On the other hand, it can make you relaxed and calm. Together, these effects interact to give you a clear, focused mind.

Pink Starburst, like most cannabis strains, can make you hungry, an effect many people seek to help increase their appetite. You just need to be prepared with snacks nearby when using this strain.

Also, like most other cannabis strains, Pink Starburst has some potentially negative side effects, including paranoia, dizziness, dry eyes, or a dry mouth. Still, these are not likely to be faced by everyone who uses this cultivar, and such side effects are usually due to inexperience and improper dosing.
