Skunk

The Skunk strain of cannabis (sometimes referred to as Super Skunk) is 60% sativa and 40% indica, meaning it is a slightly more sativa-dominant strain (cultivar) with average THC levels ranging between 16 and 20%.

Sensi Seeds created the Skunk strain by combining the Afghani and Skunk #1 strains of cannabis. When creating new strains, Skunk #1 is used often due to its popularity among growers due to its reliability and uniformity, as well as the wide range of phenotypes it can produce.

The Afghani strain originated in the Middle East and was brought to the United States in the 1970s. Both strains are indica-dominant and are known to give the consumer a deep body high without affecting their concentration. Some consumers even report feeling energetic after smoking the Skunk strain, further testament to this variety’s wide range of possible chemical combinations and compositions.

When smoked, the Skunk strain will produce a deeply aromatic and pungent cannabis aroma that many consumers love. When the strain is inhaled, it has a very sweet and fruity flavor profile that surprises many people.

Growing

growing strains

The Skunk strain is considered easy to grow, so if you’re just starting your cannabis growing journey, it’s a great strain to get started with. The strain grows well outside in moderate conditions and is known to be resilient to common molds and pests.

However, when growing Skunk strain outside, you need to consider that the strain is very pungent and can attract the attention of neighbors and other people passing by your garden. For this reason, most people prefer to grow it indoors where the climate can be controlled, and extractor fans are used to remove the smell.

Like other sativa-dominant cannabis plants, you can expect your Skunk strain plants to grow to a medium height and yield about 18 ounces per square meter when grown indoors and 20 ounces per plant outdoors.

Height

Skunk strain plants grow to a medium size compared to many other cannabis strains, which means they grow about 4 to 8 feet tall. During the growing process, they require very little maintenance, whether grown indoors or outside in your garden.

Humidity and Temperature

The Skunk strain thrives in a moderate climate and is very resilient when grown outdoors. However, most people prefer to grow the strain indoors due to the strong, pungent smell that the plants emit. They can control the temperature and humidity and remove the smell using extractor fans.

Flowering

You can expect a flowering time of eight to 10 weeks when grown indoors. To maximize your yield of Skunk strain buds, you can wait closer to 10 weeks before harvesting your plants. When grown outdoors, it will typically start to flower in late September or early October.
