Fruity Pebbles

Fruity Pebbles, also referred to as Fruity Pebbles OG and Fruity OG, is an indica-dominant hybrid strain created by Alien Genetics in 2006. The hybrid takes genetics from Green Ribbon, Granddaddy Purple, and Tahoe Alien to create a berry flavor.

The strain’s buds are lime green, and the rest of the plant manifests various greens, reddish-browns, and light shades of purple, giving it a mottled “cereal-like” appearance. The plant is known for containing many resinous crystals and a bushy appearance with orange hairs.

Its complex chemical composition delivers an extremely fruity smell reminiscent of the popular cereal “Frooty Pebbles.” It provides a strong euphoric effect to elicit an uplifted mood when stressed and induces sleep in those with insomnia.

Fruity Pebbles is reported to be one the most enjoyable and popular strains on the market, but it’s one of the more difficult strains to get hold of due to its genetics. The potency of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD) can vary significantly between individual plants.

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder/Attention Deficit Disorder (ADHD/ADD)

Utilizing CBD and other phytocannabinoids and terpenes in cannabis may help replace the lost endocannabinoids, helping treat pain and mood disorders associated with NF1 gene mutations. Using THC may help boost dopamine levels in the brain.

Medical cannabis may also help reduce the intake of stimulant medications. Terpenes like beta-caryophyllene and limonene may be beneficial for reducing the intake of stimulants and addiction in general.

Growing

growing strains

The Fruity Pebbles marijuana strain is suitable for intermediate growers because it does require a few environmental conditions. Common to sativa strains, it grows tall and lanky, requiring plenty of vertical space and light to thrive.

Mold is common in areas with high humidity and low water evaporation. Fruity Pebbles contains resinous trichomes on its buds, which make it resistant to mold by the Botrytis fungus.
The “screen of green” growing method is recommended to maximize the yield of Fruity Pebbles. The method involves securing a screen above the canopy of the plants and then tying the plant to the screen as it grows. Due to its massive height, growers should trim fan leaves to allow light to penetrate lower branches. Finally, because of the pungent aroma of the strain, it’s recommended to use tools like carbon filters and exhaust fans to maximize airflow.

As the plant moves through the vegetative stage, the plant foliage becomes denser. When flowering starts, anthocyanins are produced, creating the purple/red hues of the leaves. During the final weeks of flowering, the plant length increases by at least 50%, reaching five to six feet.

Height

Fruity Pebbles requires space to grow to tall sativa-like heights; the strain can reach a height of 30 to 70 inches.

Humidity and Temperature

Fruity Pebbles prefers a temperate climate throughout its growing stage and indirect sunlight.

Flowering

Fruity Pebbles has a flowering period of between eight and nine weeks and produces average yields. When grown indoors, you can expect 16 ounces per square meter. Outdoors, this increases to 18 ounces per plant.
