Blue Kush

Blue Kush is often used to refer to Dinafem Seeds’ version, a cross between Blueberry and OG Kush. It leans toward sativa slightly at 55% sativa and 45% indica.

Some other strains (cultivars) go by the name Blue Kush Berry (by Paradise Seeds) or Blueberry Kush (by Kush Cannabis Seeds and Nirvana Seeds). These should not be confused with Dinafem’s version, perhaps the most popular strain of the bunch. There is also an auto-flowering version of Blue Kush, which is 50% indica and 50% sativa.

Blue Kush has a deliciously fruity smell and has been reported as having cerebral, uplifting effects and a blueberry and pine taste and aroma. Blue Kush is a good strain for managing stress, depression, and chronic pain.

Blue Kush has an uplifting effect, despite its myrcene and humulene content, with myrcene tending to be more sedative. Blue Kush also often contains pinene — which can be detected as it is one of the prominent smells of the plant — and limonene, which could contribute to Blue Kush’s more uplifting effects.

growing strains

For those looking for uplifting effects without having to grow a tall, long-flowering, sativa-dominant cannabis plant, Blue Kush is ideal. Plus, it’s relatively easy to grow compared to many sativas, with its indica genetics helping shorten the growth time significantly. Moreover, Blue Kush’s hybrid vigor gives it plenty of resistance against molds and diseases, making it an ideal cultivar for outdoor and indoor grow setups. Blue Kush also responds well to both SOG and SCROG grows.

Blue Kush grows a relatively manageable height of 4-6 feet, generally averaging about five feet. Blue Kush responds well to training, so those with limited headroom who find a larger-growing phenotype can bend their plants a little.

Humidity and Temperature

The ideal temperature is 66 degrees Fahrenheit (19 degrees Celsius) at nighttime and 78-82.5 degrees Fahrenheit (26-28 degrees Celsius) in the daytime. Relative air humidity is about 60% during the vegetative period and 40% during the flowering period.

8-9 weeks. Harvest time is in October in the Northern Hemisphere or around March in the Southern Hemisphere.
